Cattleya mossiae
Blooming a bit early this year. To my nose this is still the best-scented cattleya species. Besides that, it's super easy to grow and bloom, taking both cool/cold dry winters and hot and humid summers equally well.

The scent is very strong and sweet (I would have said "very floral," although that's so vague that it wouldn't be worth mentioning :-), and it can be detected from many yards away. In a small, enclosed room it's almost overpowering (my partner said it reminds him of a funeral parlor, which I don't really think is the most flattering description).

The flower is nice, but the quality of the picture is outstanding! Good work Steve!
So do you think this smells better than walkeriana? Because would be saying a lot!
