Anyone have a notion as to identity of this species - either Encyclia or Epidendrum (can't keep them straight)
It was found in Peru along the road between Rioja and Progreso, Dept of San Martin.

I don't know for sure, but I'm betting Encyclia.

Paul - look at the foliage, I really do think that it is an Epi.

It does have the Epi. foliage, but I was going more off the size. I'm no expert on either of them, but I thought the growth size and habit looked like what I named. Again, no expert here, just guessing and would love to be wrong and learn from it!

Norm Cash suggested it appears to be Epidendrum orbiculatum. Attached is photo of Epi. orbiculatum 'Stoney Point"
