Myrmecophila Tibicinis Loaded with spikes ! Male
Default Myrmecophila Tibicinis Loaded with spikes !

I have a big-ole Schomb on a palm tree and it is covered in spikes. Last year I had two dozen spikes blooming, and they were 5 feet long, and more.

After this mild winter in S. Florida, and some extra care.. I should have an even more spectacular display..
My Schombs-A-Poppin !!

I have half of my orchids blooming right now.. Even this ancient plant that I inherited from a deceased neighbor.. Only God knows how old this plant is...

Hahahahaha ! I wanted to, but two different orchid-people told me not to. They said to cut the fence away carefully.. to preserve the specimen. Now that it is spiking, I'll have to wait.
The top pseudobulbs are 6 feet off the ground now, and the flowers will be over 10 or 11 feet up.. Makes it hard to photograph as the flowers are smallish..

Thanks, all.
I can tell you that I was given a single pseudobulb about 16 years ago. My friend told me to tie it to a piece of cedar plank with a little sphagmoss where the roots would sprout. It was like a green carrot.
I did so, and tied the plank to a small foxtail palm in a pot. I placed it so the sprinklers would hit it and it would get some late pm shade. The pseudobulbs are now about 3 deep on the trunk. I toss a handful of lawn fertilizer on the top row of stems, twice a year.
Hey ! It worked. Now I use the expensive products, but I cannot move it. I want to stand up the palm and box in the base like a planter. However, the multi-stemmed, multi-named pbulbs have grown thru the fence and have lots of leaves outside the fencing.
I'm gonna cut the fence and scab in a new piece after it blooms out.

I have some pics I will add. Being on the end of a buggy whip, the small poms of flowers are hard to photograph with any relative scale. I have to shoot a low stem, or bend one over.
