Lc. Mildred Rives 'Orchidglade' FCC/AOS
A lady in its 30’s, this cross still fills the eyes. It is a mix of seven species, but it is mostly Cat. Mossiae and Cat. trianae, both responsible for 66% of the genetic background. Curiously, this beautiful, huge semi-alba remained forgotten by the hybridizers for 20 years (only 15 crosses using it as of 1995) and then, in the last ten years or so, more than 40 new crosses with it as one of the parents.
The clone ‘Orchidglade’ was first awarded an HCC/AOS in 1983 and as recently as 2005 has received an FCC/AOS award scoring 91 points. An FCC now only confirms that this flower excellence stands unsurpassed.
