Encyclia tampensis is also very high on my list, but only the alba form seems to be sold here, and I really want the normal version.

I find the alba too plain, but maybe it's because the only plant I've seen in real life is the standard species, and so I fell it love with that one.

I do prefer the regular version. But I think the alba varies as much as the regular. That said, I did see a picture of a very green "alba" type, and I did like it. I still like the normal version better though.

Thats a nice looking plant Gage. Do you have very many chids in/on your "little tree". I would love to see any pics.

Lol! I have seen a lot of tampensis blooming in the wild, but I've only seen 1 blooming in someone's collection. I think because I saw the regular form so much in the wild, I'm endeared to it. I have only seen pictures of the alba.

Gage - I thought I would post some encouragement. The photo below is what you have to look forward to. This was taken in 2009 at a nature preserve a few miles from my home. It was one of the smaller specimens.

Thanks, Bud. I was SO pleased to find this one. It is well-established and has the feel of a specimen, while being small enough to fit in my small growing area, and it didn't break the bank.
