Classic cattleya.............
I bought this big white catt many years ago when I didn't even care about the names of orchids. I threw away the tag, not knowing that the name was important. I wish I hadn't done that because this has turned out to be one of my favorite whites. It's been a very reliable bloomer for years now.

Very nice! It's too bad about the tag! Is this the same on in your avatar pic?

No, Bob. The one on my avatar is C. Jose Marti 'Mother's Favorite'.

I used to be that way too...I found tags to be unsightly when I put the flower as a centerpiece. I even cover the media and pot with fancy paper because its not aesthetically beautiful in an arrangement.
I started my orchid collection from a rescued phal in the trash...it was the blue porcelain pot and the plastic butterflies that attracted me...the leaves were still green but the flowers have all dried up and withered so I just thought I can make it survive...and it did
I love fragrant white orchids...I am so envious of your blooms

Tucker - You are in luck, that happened to be the very first orchid I ever owned 37 years ago. A florist friend of mine gave it to me while I was sick in the hospital. I will never forget that flower. Your plant is C. Ruth Gee (C. Esbetts X C. Old Whitey).

Thank you so much. I actually seem to remember that name for some reason. I'll look it up. I didn't really worry about it until recently. I got a blue ribbon for it at my orchid society meeting and the judge said he recognized the orchid but couldn't remember the name. Thanks again.
