Cattleya amethystoglossa is starting to flower now
! I really love this species. I have a few adult plants and several seedlings of different ages, including one of the famous ‘aurea’. I don’t really know why it took me so long to build up a collection of this species, but now I am fixing this!!! This particular one is still a young plant that flowered for the first time last year and is a favorite because of its ‘pearly’, almost white background, which is very distinct from the characteristic lavender in the type (look at the third flower, the type, for comparison). This can be a tall plant, as tall as Cattleya guttata, of which it was once considered to be a rose variety.
