Default Cattleya walkeriana

I know everybody is bored with this species, but I love it because of its fragrance and its habit of blooming in mid-winter.

I'm not bored with it, but that's probably because I don't grow it and can appreciate someone else's plant !

I love Walkeriana and yours is beautiful. I am looking for one (an alba) but am afraid I can't grow it. However I probably will try. Thanks for taking a picture of yours.

No walkeriana boredom here either. I never tire of seeing them because there is so much variation within the species. Each one has an individual character.

Who is bored with this species???? Not me!! lol

The more I look at this pic, the more this one looks like dolosa to me and not as much like pure walkeriana. It's still gorgeous though!

JMPC. Nice photo. Nice flower. It has C walkeriana in its background, but I don't think it's C walkeriana.

isurus. I have to agree with you. It looks like C xdolosa (or C Heathii). If it's labelled as C walkeriana, then it's probably an offspring or crossing of 'Pendentive' ... which probably makes it C xdolosa (or C Heathii).

Thanks for the input. I have always wondered about this one. It reminds me of 'Pendentive' in its size and shape in that the plant is about twice as big as my pure walkerianas. I think that the clonal name is 'Limerick'.

I can't recall for sure, but I think 'Limerick' is from same line as 'Pendentive,' which is from a selfing of 'Orchidglade.' 'Orchidglade' was found in the wild, and was originally identified as C. walkeriana, but it's really a C. dolosa.

A number of alba form walkeriana cultivars aren't really the pure species, even though AOS hasn't recognized that, at least in regard to 'Pendentive.'
