I was talking to Alan Koch at the San Antonio AOS show a few months back and we started talking about the dolosa/heathii/Orchidglade/Pendentive issue. He told me that Orchidglade actually is a wild collected walkeriana (and he has a peice of the original), but that when they selfed it (which later produced Pendentive), they actually grabbed the wrong plant. The plant they selfed was a dolosa/heathii by accident. This might be something to be discussed in a separate thread, but I figured I would relay this little tidbit to the masses!

Steve, that is very interesting, and it adds a new element to the 'Orchidglade' debate. I'm no one to doubt what Alan Koch says, but on the other hand, the taxonomy of 'Orchidglade,' has been in question for many years. In seeing pictures of the plant, I saw that it has very elongated pseudobulbs that look more like dolosa than walkeriana.

The mystery lingers on -- meanwhile, in reviewing my notes, I see that I was not quite accurate in regard to the origin of 'Pendentive.' It was not the direct result of a selfing, but of a cross between siblings of the selfing, as in your post "(which later produced Pendentive").

This.

Observing the pseudobulbs I dont think its a walkeriana, but the flower looks like one!

by the way, super beauty plant!
