Default Laelia cinnabarina
Laelia cinnabarina in flower is quite a sight! Because of its brilliant, plain orange flowers, it has been intensely used in hybridization. It is in the background of more than 140 registered primary hybrids (involving two species) according to RHS. But this number must be higher because not all hybrids end up registered. It is a common rupicolous plant found in the Rio de Janeiro State.

It is quite variable in size, Rsfrid. There are some as small as 6" and others higher than 14". Mine is among the taller ones!

I have to make Brazil one of my hiking destinations. What would be the best time of year to visit your country for the purpose of hiking and seeing your wild orchids and flowers?
