Cattleya trianae var mooreana
I don't grow many full sized Cattleyas anymore, gave most of them (about 500) away a year or two ago. This is one that I just couldn't let go. I have got to make at least one cross with it, any suggestions?

Chryss, I totally agree but I would like a smaller version of it, maybe I'll put Encyclia tampensis on it.

That is unbelievably gorgeous!!!!!!! I would LOVE to get my hands on one of those! If you crossed it with an alba mossiae, could it produce semi albas? A semi with that lip would be incredible! Although it is stunning as is!! Could you send a node away for mericloning? That would be a great one to spread around!

What about crossing it with something compact with big flowers, like Laelia pumila?

Do you notice any difference in scent between cultivars and color varieties? I just got a trianae v. coerulea a few months ago, and cant wait to see it bloom, but havent heard anything about its scent.

In answer to your comments and questions from the top down: I'm not really sure about getting a semi alba from the pairing that you suggest. As to cloning it, it's rather differcult to find a lab that will clone in fairly small numbers of plants.
Crossing it with Laelia pumila would I'm sure produce a very lovely flower but what I am looking for is to just shrink the flower and plant size. I have found with Enc tampensis crosses, if a flower with flares or splashes is used the resulting cross will most times look like the parent with the flares/splashes just smaller.
As to scent, I haven't noticed much of a difference maybe a bit in the intensity of the scent.

It would be extremely interesting to see what the flowers would look like if it were crossed with tampensis. That would be a very cool cross! I saw pics online once of a cattleya crossed with E. cochleata, which I had thought couldnt be crossed with much. The color was intense!

What about crossing it with one of the Brassavolas? B. nodosa is the most commonly used one, but maybe something else, like cordata/subulifolia or even perrinii?
