Cattleya intermedia alba catches the attention, so beautiful it is. There are two very distinct ecotypes in this species: the tall plants (15" or more) that come from the State of São Paulo (where I am) and the small plants that come from the States of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul. The best intermedias are the small ones, barely higher than 7-8", or so. The tall ones that come from my State seem to be genetically very stable being very difficult to find any variations from the type. They also have poor form. Almost all varieties of value were found among the south, small ecotype. They are in flower in the habitat now and I am planning a photographic trip to see them
