This is my first post, so I hope it works, especially the pictures. This is another orchid that has been a victim of the name changing. Epl.(?) Memoria Dollie McKinnon is a cross of what I would call Laelia tenebrosa and Encylia mariae, but are now reclassified as Cattleya and Prosthechea. This is this orchid's second bloom, and it's marvelously fragrant just like its parents and nearly five inches across! I haven't found many pictures of this cross on the net, so I figured I would share mine for reference. I love how the two parents are both so obvious on the flower and the plant habit. (Unfortunately, it seems to want to have a somewhat pendulous flower spike like mariae, so, as you can see, I had to stake it.) This is a weird cross, but I think the flower is interesting, and the plant is very vigorous.

Thanks! I like the form too! For some reason, it's really appealing to me. And of course the tenebrosa colors are a nice addition.

Very interesting and beautiful. Like so many primary hybrids, any defects could be ironed out by another crossing, back to L. tenebrosa maybe. A bronzy Laelia with a really big lip.
