It is just opening up this morning. What, what?? I know what you're thinking, this is supposed to be a spring bloomer...

I purchased this at the Redlands Orchid Festival last may, and it already had a small sheath. During the summer, it went through a small growth spike, but then stopped. Then a few weeks ago we had temps in the 50's, and cool for a few days, then back up into the mid/high 80's (F). That set her off, and the sheath went into grow mode and here I have this...

I wonder how much it will open, or if it will retain it's "bell" shape.

Wonderful colors. I almost lost mine this summer for some reason. After a repot and some major TLC, it has put out two new growths that look pretty happy. My understanding is that they don't usually open up 'all the way', but they're still very nice. Keep us posted.

Can you believe this is still in bloom? The first two blooms were joined by three more in early december. The first two blooms lasted a month. Now the last three blooms are still going strong over 4 weeks now.

Oh, and the scent is not only wonderful, but just perfect. I had it in the house and it scented the whole living area (living room, dining room, kitchen, and florida room). It was scented all day long, not too strong, and again, a beautiful smell.

Here it is Xmas Eve...

Lovely!!! Do you have a picture of the whole plant? I got one a while ago, and it has just started a new lead and roots!

Beautiful! I'm curious, what is the name of the orange Ascocenda looking blooms in your pic?
