I hope your sheath kicks in soon
Even Feb. seems like a stretch unless it really starts growing soon. And who knows, maybe there will be nothing in that sheath I'll keep my fingers crossed. It is the "Summit' one which is considered one of the best so really want to have a look see at blooms!

Shove them back is a corner and ignore them and don't make eye contact. It works with my plants.

i want that summit. im currently on the hunt. but this does take patience, back on topic. one time when i had blc. chia lin new city or whatever it was, i had 2 sheath it it, but they then dried out and turned yellow with black splotches. i immediately reacted as a DISEASE and didnt hesitate to chop them off but inside were perfectly healthy buds......so can anyone verify if that was ok or not?

I bought mine from a local grower from Edmonton so not much help to you in finding C. percivaliana 'Summit' from a grower. Possibly Hausermann's as they seem to have some oldie but goodies.

Some sheaths do dry up early before the buds are developed. I don't know what kind of spots you mean, but I think I have had the odd spot on a dying sheath. So long as it isn't all wet and mushy, I would have been tempted to slit it open and possibly remove it or just keep an eye on the buds. I have Chia Lin 'New City' Another from Paramount that is supposed to be bloom size, but only marginally so. It has a recent large new growth, but still no sign of a sheath
