I wouldn't say it smells bad. I'd rather say that opinions are not unanimous. Some like it, some don't.
BTW, I sent it to a regional show this weekend and it was awarded the best plant in the show. Two TV stations were there to register it. I wasn't there, but friends said it was very nice.

Tricho, yes, the plant has a natural compact growth habit.
