More Cattleyas from Clouds
This is my last order of the year, and this time I mean it! lol. I couldnt resist one more, especially when some of the plants I was on the fence about were switched to the "Limited" list on the website. So here they are! C. gaskelliana var. coerulescens (there were two seedlings in the pot so I took one out and threw it in a terra cotta pot) Slc. Misty Girl 'Autumn Symphony', and C. (or L.) purpurata var. venosa. They were all $15 each, and except for the two little gaskelliana seedlings, they are quite large!

Nice and healthy seedlings. Are you planning to keep them in moss?
Mine will come next week, I have ordered psychopsis and 8 catts. I am afraid to keep then in moss but don't know if they can be repotted in fall. What do you think?

As long as they have active root growth they are fine to repot. I am leaving mine for the time being because the roots seem to be pretty happy, but I am only misting the surface of the moss and not thoroughly watering them so I don't rot the roots. I don't grow any of my other catts in moss and am leery of it, but since these seem to be doing so well I will wait and see. There was only one that didnt have much for roots and what it did have seemed to either stick to the surface, or go into the moss and suffocate, but one of its parents is Epi. stamfordianum, and I read that it likes its roots free and doesnt like to be potted, so I switched it to a terra cotta pot with large bark chunks and it is putting out nice healthy looking roots now. Cant wait to see pics of your order!

Cody, you should move closer to Cloud's, that would save a whole lot on shipping costs! Isn't it a good thing that they don't ship from beg. Oct. to end of May? At least now you (and I) can start squirreling money away for next season.

Sorry Cavs 'n Orchids, this one was meant for you and Cody. I just love it when people are happy with our Canadian growers, especially when they know how to ship their plants. Cloud's are among the best.

I guess I'll be the odd one out and join this canadians only conversation!
Very nice orchids, especially for the price! Must be terrible for you guys not to be able to order for over half the year. Ordering in the winter here is risky even with heat packs, but our winters are nothing compared to yours!

Me too. I have three small fluffy Blc. hybrids and they do good in tiny clay pots with straight chc.
I got C. forbesii as a bonus plant from Clouds about a month ago. It came in plastic green pot with moss and looked very good. Couple days ago I decided to check on roots after being in my care for a month and noticed some root rot under the plant base. I urgently repotted it into clay pot with mix of chc and charcoal. Hope it will be OK. I am planning to repot my new ones into same mix when they come.

Funny, I live fairly close to Clouds and just bought some seedlings from them on the weekend at a local show. (And probably 1/4 of my collection is from them) Normally quality plants. I just realized that we're running out of time and placed an order with Paramount for something different, which hopefully will be shipped some time next week. I've had good experience with their plants as well.
