Okay, so this is one of the Catts that have been on my list for a while, and I finally bought it yesterday at my OS meeting! The funny thing is that I originally had a blooming Epi. propax that I was going to buy, but I ended up seeing the skinneri. Due to me being poor (I have spent over $500 on 'chids in the last month!

) I could only buy one, so the skinneri went home with me!

Okay, so here is the whole plant with my hand.

Here it is today after retying the p'bulbs together with elastic twine. I also cut the rhizome, as the plant was growing in two directions, and I am going to mount the four to the left of the line and repot the other half once the new growths send out roots.

Here are two eyes that are just starting on the side that will get mounted.

The great things is is that I will quickly get a large sized plant on the mount if I have three leads going at the same time!

That is where I plan on putting the Catts that are coming! Trust me, soon enough you won't be able to see any carpet on the lower level, or any white on the upper level! That reminds me, I have a 24"x16" area in my top level that would work perfectly for some warm growing shade loving minis . . . . . . any suggestions?

Watch out, skinneri's grow FAST!! You'll have a specimen sized plant in no time, so definitely leave some space!

Ok, so does anyone know when this will send out new roots? Is it after the growths mature in the late fall, or after it blooms in the spring?

Great looking plant.

I don't know for this plant specifically but my one and only Catt type sends out roots AS the growth is developing. Usually right from the very beginning of there being a new growth and they grow with it.

I never divided mine - a Guarianthe skinneri Heiti Jacobs I got a few years ago. It often makes two new growths and as every new bulb will flower, I have a wonderful big display every late winter. Undisturbed it is now climbing outside the basket and looking pretty naturally. I had it almost in full sun the last two years - very yellowish leaves, this year it spent the summer much more shadier, and even the old leaves went deep green. An easy and very rewarding Cattleya. A good option to buy!

Really nice, looks like its very healthy and well grown.
Catts are nice but when you gettin some phrags, you have room I see it

Phrags are quite low on the list of plant I want to get, actually. I am planning on looking for North American Cypripediums, the rupic Laelias, Tolumnias and their species, and if I can build a light stand for the basement, Masdevallias and Paphs.
