As a primary hybrid, the influence of B nodosa is very strong, with the narrow petals & sepals, as well as the wiry plant growth.
We made our version of Bl Morning Glory about 20 years ago and followed it up with some secondary hybrids which lost the veining in the lip. These were Blc Beautiful Morning (Bl Morning Glory x Lc Bonanza Queen), as well as Blc Morning Song (Bl Morning Glory x Lc Melody Fair). Bl Morning Glory produces good offspring if the other parent has a fuller flower.

I actually got this plant over another because I knew the B.nodosa would most likely make it a faster grower, a bit tougher, and would empart spots or stringy petals. I like those things. hehe. I loveeeee Brassavolas. I actually wanted to do some at home hybridizing using this plant with some Catts. I almost got a B. nodosa that was crossed with some kind of coerulea Catt (I forgot which).
I have to research a lotttttttt more but I think I'll just get a nice coerulea Catt too play with and try myself. I love Walkeriana and Skinneri....
Do you think there is a chance the lip will round/tube out better like nodosa does? One of them did come out ok, but the flower is kind of lopsided. heh
