Brassavola Nodosa and spikes
I can't seem to find much information on where these guys spike from? I'm wondering if they spike from a couple inches up from the base of the new growth, or if they start at the base with the other new growths.
One of my newer growths has a little 'nub' just off it's leaf, and I'm wondering if that's normal, or a spike. I'll post a pic later on, but any help would be great!

I think it is from the same location as other members of the Catt Alliance, where the leaf meets the top of the p'bulb.

I don't know, but I am also wondering. I have a little nub up the leaf a ways on mine as well.

They bloom from the top of the pseudobulb, at the groove in the leaf.

Ok, so I finally had a chance to grab a pic. I figured it would act like a Catt, but do they show signs of a sheath or anything.
Mine has this spear like growth that starts just at the point where the pbulb ends, but it looks more like it may be more of some vestigial leaf rather than a spike. It also appears to start not from inside the leaf pleats but from the outer portion of where the bulb ends. Sorry tough to explain. I've attached a pic, but it's tough to actually get a good pic of this without damaging some of the mount/pbs.
EDIT: I'm talking about the spur that is left of center with the white background from the label. Sorry for any confusion

All the nodosa I have ever grown set spikes from the point where the leaf meets the pseudobulb, some with and some w/o sheaths.

My nodosa has those little nubs, too. No idea, either, their exact mission in life but I do hope it has something to do with blooms.
