20 year old Laelia purpurata
I have been growing this plant for 20 years. There is still a 5" clay pot in the middle of the plant in the picture which measures approx 3' across. There were 40 flower spikes this year.

It lives hanging from an old Grandfather oak tree. The only time it is moved is when we are expecting a freeze. Then all I do is lower it to the ground and throw a blanket over it. It is the only plant that I have ever let grow to specimen size. Most of my plants are divided when the out grow a 6" pot.

HI
Very nicely grown! Congratulations!
Question, tho -- is this a cross with C Maxima? I see a yellow stripe down the center of the lip. Maybe I need glasses...<grin>
Take care
May all your orchids bloom like crazy
