It was given to me by a friend many years ago and I believe the original tag had it as Laelia purpurata
(carnea X werkhauseri). I just assumed it was just a poor quality flower but grew it on because it was a present. It is not a flower that I would have purchased. But at this point I have so much time and effort in it, I enjoy it for what it is, a reliable bloomer that takes absolutely no thought or energy on my part. lol I wish I could say that for some of the other plants that I grow and struggle with.

My god it is gorgeous! I am so envious that you can grow it outside. That's the up-side of living in Florida.
Thanks for sharing,

I posted my 15 year old one a few weeks ago, I am humbled by the age and size of yours.
I grow two outside here in north Los Angeles and they get any weather nature can throw at them. Easy qrower for me also.

Orchidbyte - It actually was your photo that reminded me to take a picture of this one. I have to say, although mine may be older and bigger than yours, bigger is not always better. I love your flowers, they are sooo much better than these.
