Catyclia Lollipop
I really like color of this one, so I thought I would share. The color is deep mauve with lemon lip. I like how the color of detail in the lip matches to the color of petals. The flower is about 2.25"
I got this Catyclia (Encyclia x Cattleya) Lollipop from an orchid collection sale and regretted till it got to flower I really love the color and shape of the flower but the plant is still a little too big for my growing space. So perhaps I will have to let it go by the time I have to bring orchid inside for winter.
Why cant they make something so cute in a smaller size?

oooo! fabulous color! I hope you are able to find a way to keep this - would seem a shame to have to let it go ...

Catlyclia (Epicattleya) Lollipop is (C. loddigesii x Enc. tampensis) You might want to consider that your plant might be something else. The one awarded Lollipop has a much more Encyclia-like lip. The tubular lip on your plant appears to be influenced by something like C. forbesii, C. luteola or even L. lucasiana. It looks a lot like a lavendar C. forbesii, not a bad thing at all.

Very nice! Too bad that it is a large grower.

After looking at pictures of parents I know what you mean about lip. I think C.forbesii is really lovely and I wouldnt mind if Lollipop would end up being a specie.
But comparing plants it looks like C.forbesii has long skinny p-bulbs with regular Cattleya leaves, as mine has long skinny p-buls with skinny long leaves like some of Encyclias. Could it still be a Cattleya?

I have to disagree. C. loddigesii can have a significantly long and tubular lip, though quite variable depending on the clone, and everything about this flower looks well within expectations for the cross named. This color would be very unlikely from C. forbesii or C. luteola, and the petals and sepals are too broad for L. lucasiana to be likely. If not C. loddigesii the only other species I could easily believe would be C. harrisoniana or a dark C. intermedia.
If I was going to question a parent it would be E. tampensis - maybe more like E. alata or E. phoenicea.
And a very lovely Lollipop it is...

I'm sorry I wasn't clearer. I didn't mean to suggest it was a forbesii, just that it looked like one. I doubt from your description that it is a Cattleya. Sounds like an Epicattleya or similar.

Here is a shoot of leaves - skinny and long with long pbulbs. //Sorry the file is not loading. I will try again later//
I agree that it is a cross between C. and E.
I really appreciate your comments and suggestions about parentage as I like to know as much as I can about my orchids.
It would be great to see how does awarded Lollipop looks like.
