Default C. intermedia alba 'Pine Knot'

First bloom on this baby, and it is BIG, especially compared to my other intermedias. The flowers are five inches across, and the plant tops out a thirteen inches. I've read that some people don't think it is a true intermedia, but I don't mind, I love it!

Wow! I love the form of this flower - and it's so pure white. Stunning.

I'm not at all a Cat. person, so here's a total noob question for you - what makes a Cat. an intermedia? Is it just a size thing?

Thanks so much for sharing.

Very nicely bloomed flower & good photo.

The flower & the leaves do not appear to be a C intermedia. Perhaps something like C maxima in its parentage.

Cat. intermedia is a species that is usually smaller that the standard Catts. Mine average about eight inches tall, with blooms around two to three inches. This one is a lot bigger, almost standard size.

Jays Orchid Species website says the flowers of intermedia can grow on short, and long inflorescences.

Here is a pic of it in situ...
