I do have a covered shelve where I keep my Paphs and some of the more shade loving plants. I can always move it there when and if we get rains. It's definetely cloudy here but then no rain at all. Yesteday night we got a 3 minute sprinkle.

Odd isn't it? Almost halfway into june and still the rainy season hasn't started yet.

I've been watering my chids almost daily lately. Going to add some more shade cloth this afternoon. Catts are getting toasted.

I know right !!! I've been watering my vandas daily twice a day now. My mounts once a day as well and the rest every other day. The good thing is that my chids get some good pm shade. I moved the vandas around to get them a bit more afternoon shade or they'll be toasted by now.

Hey Roly,
I grew my dowiana with great success in a basket with coarse bark. That was in Hawaii, which has lower humidity and higher winds (5-25mph everyday on average). I watered every day and it dried out in a few hours. I would tell you that anyone growing this species in spag is nuts, but the fact that Ruben grows in spag in your area with success means that he probably knows something I don't, so he might be someone to listen to.

As for s/h, I would definitely try it with Catts. I started with s/h here in Texas and am having excellent success with walkeriana: 2 Catt. walkeriana's If walkeriana is ok with it, I would imagine other species that like to dry out (like dowiana) would do well in it also.
