Default Laelia tenebrosa Rolfe - is it the same?

Can anyone tell me if Laelia tenebrosa Rolfe is just the normal, regular LB, please?

Cheers!

Cattleya laelia tenebrosa | Chadwick and Son Orchids

Above is a link to Arthur Chadwick's article on Laelia tenebrosa. I have always seen Rolf in brackets rather than like a hybrid name with quotation marks around it. I believe the brackets around the name show who is accredited for naming the species. Not that I am an expert on it.

Thank you Warren. It was just that some websites had everything lumped together in one sentence and it was difficult to make out if it was a cultivar or the person who described it.

I agree with silken. Often the name of the person who discovered/named the species is added to the end in brackets and that's what this is I believe. (I believe Rolf has his name on several orchid species).

Often this bit is not written by most people, however there is a least one case where there are two species in the same genus with the same name (either because genuses have been merged, or because a mistake was made when it was registered). In that case the name of the person who named it is the only way to tell which is which.

It can be very confusing especially in the world of WWW. I bought my first orchid plant when I was 17, I'm now 52 and the world is unknown to me, almost. Back then you got what you ordered and there was little confusion (in orchids). These days you have to take some considerable care sometimes and even then you could end up with a lemon.
