Chris, Where are you located?

You want to add the purplish color? Grow it outdoors in FULL sunlight (gradually increasing the light level, of course!). I burn a little bit of leaf every two or three years. I'm not concerned as the flowers are more important to me.

My plant usually won't grow from the end of flowering (typically, around April) until late summer/early autumn when it begins to get active.

This species "resents" repotting. I currently grow mine in LECA. Whenever I repot, I move it with as much of the media left intact as possible while I trim dead roots.

GOOD LUCK & HAVE FUN!

nothing special. it's currently in a split open plastic pot which is held for stability by a heavier clay pot. I guess that the clay pot provides humidity around the plant as well. Whenever I repot it, probably by 2013 at the latest, I will likely contain it solely in a clay pot.

My plant provided 5 blooms for me this year. The plant was at its peak in this foto.

Sadly, I don't think mine is going to bloom this year. I should have left it in the pot that it was in and just filled it in with bark. Instead, I was stupid and repotted it into another pot. The good thing is that from what I can see the roots didn't suffer too much. There is aan eye on one of the older bulbs that I hope will start growing soon. I just can't wait for this plant to bloom. I had wanted one of these plants for a long time now and when I got one the blooming size factor was just an added bonus. I'm just mad at myseld for repotting it. Oh well, I'll just have to wait until next year.
