Anyone familiar with Blc. Nacoochine?
I'm not sure if I'm spelling the name correctly, but I received a large cattleya from an estate sale that was identified as an heirloom cattleya last fall. The seller didn't know what the name was, as he stated that there was no tag in the pot. But when I repotted it today, there was, in fact, an old tag buried in the decayed bark that indicated the plant was (maybe) Blc. Nacoochine or Nacoiechine.
The name is written in pencil, and the handwriting isn't all that legible, so I know this isn't much of a clue. But if anyone is familiar with this name (or something approximating it), I would appreciate hearing from you. The flowers were very large, pink, and had the classic blc ruffled lip. They were also incredibly fragrant (they were past their prime when I received the plant, which is why I didn't take a picture). Thank you!

That's it! Thank you! I've looked at the tag repeatedly throughout the day, trying to determine what that name is. The pictures I found on line for the plant you named look exactly like the blooms this one had last fall. And now I'm equally excited to learn that it was registered by Armacost & Royston (or maybe just Armacost, according to the link you provided) back in 1952 (which, I guess, would also confirm that it qualifies as an "heirloom" cattleya). Thanks again for your help.

Blc Nacouchee in bloom
Back in bloom again, and this time I was smart enough to take a couple of pics while the flowers are in peak condition. Wonderfully fragrant and just over six inches across.
