Knowing how old this one is makes it pretty special--considering that it's survived this long in cultivation
is amazing also (I can't say that this is one of the original plants sold by Armacost & Royston, but the elderly couple whose estate it came from had lots of other cattleyas they had acquired during the 50s, 60s and 70s).
When I repotted it last spring (and found the old disintegrating label buried deep in the pot) it naturally broke into two plants, so now I'm lucky enough to have an insurance policy in the form of a spare. Pretty cool considering that it was simply an "unknown cattleya hybrid" according to the $10 price tag on the overgrown plant.
