Ok so I got an orchid from lowe's and I've been trying to figure out a species name or something. I've deducted from research that it is a Cattleya hybrid...and I'm not sure where, if able, to go from here. The only thing I have from the original purchase is the stake that says "4421 POT. MICHAEL EDWARD BOERSMA 'CARMELA'. Anybody have any ideas? Does the POT. stand for Potinara? And if so, what does that mean?
Potinara (Pot.) is a complex intergeneric hybrid of Brassavola, Cattleya, Laelia and Sophronitis.
"In 2008, the genus Sophronitis was merged into Cattleya, making such nothogenera as Potinara, Sophrolaeliocattleya and Sophrocattleya no longer current, but only of historical interest. " Potinara - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
