your good ...leads are what we call a new growth ....eyes are the buds new at the base and when they start growing are called leads...

I think that it looks just fine. It needs to have some growing room, and you don't have too much in there.

okay, all good stuff. So as to not keep fiddling with it, I'll leave it in the 4' pot for now. If I see some new growth, I hope we can all chat again. ;-)

John, I see a dot on the rhizome. Not sure if it's a new growth or a root. I'll watch it.

I think you'll be happier with the 4" pot especially if you tend to overwater.

I repot dozens of cattleyas every week. I will say from experience there is no way to tell if the plant is potted well by just looking at it, usually you have to un-pot a plant to tell if it is potted well. As others have said, smaller is usually better so the downsize was probably beneficial.
