Got Brassavola digbyana? - Orchid Board

I am an international student from Honduras (our national flower is the digbyana) but I'm living in Milwaukee, WI and getting married on May 14th in South Bend, IN. Does anyone know where I can find this orchid for sale anywhere in the Midwest? I am looking to put at least one bloom in my bridal bouquet, as a nice touch in honor of my country.

I appreciate the help!

you should try oak hills gardens or orchids by hausermann.....i believe they both carry a digbyana, and might be able to help you....

I think you should be able to find one with little trouble, but the trick will be finding one in bud/bloom in time for the wedding.

The bad news is that both digbyana and it's cousin glauca have had their names changed.
They no longer belong to the Brassovola family and are now Rhyncholaelia digbyana etc.

Gold Country Orchids has nice, blooming size plants for sale (and relatively inexpensive). If you look on EBay under Kawamoto Orchids, they carry this species too; again, blooming size and fairly cheap, and Reid Kawamoto, the proprietor, is an easy and fair guy to deal with--you might even want to ask him if he's got plants in sheath or spike. RF Orchids has carried Rhyncholaelia digbyana in the past, so you could probably give them a call too.
