Default NOID Catt from 70's (Pot. Hugo Porto?)

This Catt I acquired in the late 70s, perhaps with no label (or I missed it.) I know it will be impossible to positively identify it, but by the time of purchase it may be the Potinara Hugo Porto, a crossing made by the late Jorge Verboonen (Orquidário Binot / Petrópolis) registred by Rolf Altenbugh (Florália - Pot. Jorge Verboonen x Blc. Norman's Bay) in 1964. This crossing was very popular at the time, and provides excellent quality for a orchid created over 40 years! Very few nurseries have this 'chid for sale.

Howdy from East Texas
I find it interesting that a Potinara would be this large, and this pink.

Most pinks are straight catts with digbyana, and a heavy dose of trianaei for shape and softness of tint.

Ask those at Floralia, who are still growing and breeding this type of catt, and see if they can help you identify this.

Take care
May all your orchids bloom like crazy

Oh and by the way it's Rlc. not Pot. for this one.

Hello friends,

Thank you for your help!

In a virtual Brazilain orchids community, a friend also found it odd that this is a Potinara, especially because of the pink "splash" in the lip - this spot is very reminiscent of that found in Bc. Pastoral "Innocence" (famous creation Rolf Altenburgh / Florália - Bc. Deesee x C. Mademoiselle Louise Pauwels - 1961). Perhaps my NOID is a cross (or close relative) of Bc Pastoral, not Pot. Hugo Porto.

Warren, the link that you provided shows a Pot. Hugo Porto cultivated by Carlos Keller, one of the best connoisseurs of Cattleya and its hybrids in Brazil (but sorry, I'll never call a Potinara as "Rlc" or any other name! I don't adopt these modernities, they certainly are a fad)
