Cattleya mendelii 'Carlos Arango'
Here's another early bloom on a Cattleya. I know that it's not a popular species, but I like it beecause it is pretty compact and the irridescent colors in the petals are amazing. Wish the image showed the colors better.

That is an absolutely beautiful flower!!!! Photos rarely capture the beauty of orchids in person... mine never do! WHY should it not be a popular species?! I want one!

It's a shame that it's not as popular as it should be, considering its history and compact size. Your plant's blooms are fantastic, and in my opinion, they're much nicer than probably 98% of the hybrids I've seen (but I'm a sucker for species anyway, which makes me a little biased). Contratulations on your flowers. They really are stunning.
