I've always liked C. Dowiana but I've never owned one. I heard a presentation from the owner of Rueben in Orchids and he said that the plant is from the rain forests of South America so it likes more moisture than the typical Cattleya. Do you find that to be true?

I don't believe in that, Tucker. Mine receive just the same amount of water as the other Cattleya.

Gratz! Another stunner
My greenhouse opens in about three weeks (painting and a few tweaks occuring now)...maybe then my C. dowiana var. aurea can put out just one bloom please.
For now, I will indulge in your picture.

I love this Mauro!!! i have a question. The topmost flower in the second picture doesn't have the same intricate Venation as the others does that develop more as the flower ages? or is it just Variable between the flowers? These Flowers are Bananas! Great Growing!

I was wondering the same thing, it almost looks like that top bloom belongs to a completely different plant.

Dowiana aurea does that sometimes to some flowers on the stem, sometimes to all of them... it's normal for the species
