I went on an Ecuagenera orchid tour yesterday with Gilberto Merino. We went to one of Ecuagenera's reserves, and on the way, we stopped several times to look at various plants. This Epidendrum was at very high altitude (over 2000 meters) where it was chilly and misty. The petals and sepals are almost black.
Glad you enjoyed seeing the plants! They were really wonderful. I thought immediately of hybridizing potential, but the climate they grow in is quite cold all year around.
