Default Catt with a newbie

Hello!
I have had these two beauties for about a year now and I so excited to announce their first NEW BLOOMS! I love these little guys very much and want to do the best thing for them. I have been reading about Keikis and looking closely at mine. Is this a keiki...or am I just wishful thinking? I appreciate any thoughts. Thank you!

Congratulations on the new buds. It's always fun when they bloom again. Like Gin said cattleyas don't get keikis.

Keiki means baby in Hawaiian and is used to describe shoot on abnormal positions. Phaleanopsis on the flower stem and Dendrobium higher up on the vegetative stem (also other reed like orchids Epidendum, Thunia, etc).

Good luck on the flowers.

Hi, this is just a new shoot. This is how most orchids look when they put on new growth.

Thanks for all the in site! I really want to see these guys bloom. I will take pics and let you know. Maybe every day for some of you...but I have unfortunately been the death of two before these and now I want to be a great caretaker for these guys! Happy growing!

Cattleya elongata does put out keikis, don't know of any others offhand.
