All beautiful and well grown as always Mauro! I'm wondering if you or any others out there could verify that this is or is not a maxima for me. Really long story, but I bought at an auction, plant had been neglected somewhat and as you can see spilling out of the basket. The old label when I purchased it said C maxima. What are your thoughts?? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your kind comments, Brenda!
As for your plant, I can positively say it is not Cattleya maxima. It most likely is a hybrid, but it is very difficult to identify it, sorry!

Hello Brenda!

Cattleya maxima will have a yellow stripe down the midlobe of the lip. Sorry your plant was mislabeled.

Thanks for your help on this one, figured so. As far as it being mislabled, I think I paid 12 or 14$ for a large plant that gave me 8 or 9 flowers the first year, will obviously not be an award winner, but still looks nice in my living room. Thanks again, guess I'm on the hunt for a maxima!!
