Cattleya dolosa var. caerulea 'Kaaawa' HCC/AOS
Cattleya dolosa var. caerulea 'Kaaawa' HCC/AOS
Cattleya dolosa originated as a natural hybrid between C. walkeriana and C. loddigesii and became genetically stable in wild populations. Selective breeding of “blue” ones has always been restricted within the rarity of caerulea lineage, so they generally have a somewhat ordinary flower form compared to the best ones with typical coloration.
This pale lilac cultivar, ‘Kaaawa,’ is nevertheless a beautiful example of C. dolosa. As usual for the species, the flower emits a sweet fragrance, especially in direct sunlight during the morning hours.
