Cute blooms. They look like they're reaching out for a hug.

Very nice! I would suspect that the plant actually is Prosthechea chimborazoensis syn. Anachelium chimborazoense. I have an almost identical plant that a taxonomist ID:ed for me. He also wrote:

Prosthechea chimborazoensis is most common in Ecuador (where Volcan Chimborazo is located) and is frequenty exported by Ecuagenera. In addition to morphology and spotted petals, the flowers have an overpowering honey fragrance.

Those are beautiful. Is this a fairly temperature tolerant species, or is it very picky about its temperature preferences?

Hi Steve

The habitat from this plant is high humidity and warm... is from the cloudy forest ... but... this plant I brought 2 years ago and I put in my conditions... ( not so good condictions) Quito is dry and we are at 2800 m ... But the plant finally give me flowers... I think this plant with high humidity and warm conditions will grow faster and bigger... I saw really big plants of Encyclias with thousands of flowers... is a easy to grow plant...

I don´t know this other name... but the vulcano is far away from this plant habitat ... and the vulcano is really high... this plant grows in the cloud forest from the Andes in zones with high humidity and warm...
