L. purpurata var. coerulea - new acquisition

Hi. I am so happy with my new acquisition I can't help myself to post a picture here. It is from a German vendor and arrived in perfect condition: around 12 pseudobulbs, a very tall and strong plant. Not a cheap one... but deserves the money. It is my best cattleya alliance exemplar.

It's a coerulea form, but no idea of the intensity or the shade of the blue... It has been in flower before, which is a good thing, I guess

Here it is next to a medium size phal.

Yes, it looks very healthy (only a little black sunburn spot on an old psb). It has a lot of roots out of the pot (not visible in the picture, but believe me, a lot and long roots) . I don't know when to repot it...

Not sure if it needs repotting based on the picture. But if you are going to repot the plant do it when you see root tips beginning to emerge from the newest pseudobulb.

There are a lot of coerulea purpuratas, but the names are confusing: werkhauseri, ardosia (slate), roxo-violeta (very intense purple), aço, etc. But the right name is var. coerulea. I am a purpurata fan and I read about different forms, thanks to Mauro Rosim. He is the expert.

Yes, the roots are exactly behind the pot in the picture. But I'll wait until new roots emerge.

Ahhh yes, you are right Nico! I just couldn't remember purpurata coerulea, but there are so many with different names! I bet it will look great!
