Default Ports of paradise info please

I have a ports of Paradise and it has one new lead and I want to go to s/h with it ....

Does anyone have a idea when new roots emerge on this one ...before the lead is very big, after the lead is about halfway grown , Or does it wait untill leads are fairly mature to send out new roots from the new growth ?

I had one this summer too.
I put it in s/h after it bloomed and got a bunch of new roots; now I have a new lead.
Sooo it seems you may have to wait

so it made the roots from what area of the plant? And the new lead is about how old?

Sounds like it produces roots first then the lead if I am correct?

Yes, that is what it did.
After blooming, a new flush of roots came from the bottom of the pseudobulb where the flower just finished blooming.
That is when I repotted in the s/h.
Right now, the new roots are about 1-2 inches and an eye is coming out which will be the new pseudobulb hopefully to flower next.
Since your young pseudobulb has not flowered yet, I think it may be too soon for the s/h as I would not expect new roots until after it flowers and the flower is spent.
Hope that helps

Hello I just found your post via a google search. I have a new port or paradise and waiting to repot at the appropriate time.
When it arrived it had buds and also new roots from the same cane but all are not strong, very thin and mostly damaged from transport.
She is in full bloom now, so I was wondering if you think after she’s finished blooming that she’ll set out new string roots from this latest cane or are the roots she arrived with all she’ll set out for the season? I’m really hoping it’s not the latter, I’d love to set her up in a new pot and media. At the moment it’s set in a coconut husk shell mount which is awful 😂
