Default Blc. Rustic Spots

This one has been a great bloomer for me, and last year bloomed multiple times. I hope it does the same for me. This time of the year marks it's first blooms, and there is still young growth that should bloom into October.

The poor thing got incredibly sun burned and is all red... but didn't go as far as to turn it black. The flowers actually change color the longer they've been opened, and vary drastically in color depending on the level of light the plant has gotten.

1st pic is the current blooms, and were taken today. They have been open about a week.
2nd pic is from August 2009
3rd. pic is from October 2009.
All are the same plant. It was transfered from bark to s/h this spring.

Really pretty bloom!
I'm waiting for mine to do something, I am hoping it is mature enough this year.

Welcome back Nichole! We've missed you! Lovely chid! You just have to love the Richard Muller crosses. They just do the most interesting things.

Thanks Joann! You'll love yours when it blooms. The first spike this one ever sent up had 3 blooms on it. Just two this go-round, but I think it's still adjusting to the s/h and is a bit shocked by the sunburn. Poor thing. I'm just happy it still decided to give me some pretties.... which also smell good might I add!

Awe, that's sweet, I've missed this place too Yes, the Richard Muller crosses are fun! I'm not huge into cattleya hybrids, but I'll make exception for those.

Thank you! I'm a bit partial to the deeper orangey & burnt/rust kind of color spots over the pinkish ones, but they are both quite pretty.

I always love this orchid. It's really interesting to see that colour difference, not seen how it does that before.

Glad it didn't get too sun-burned for you.
