Default Cattleya Heathii var. albescens

This is the primary hybrid between Cattleya walkeriana and Cattleya loddigesii. It is often found out there labeled as Cattleya dolosa, but this name should only be used with the plants found in nature, not the artificial ones.

Lovely one, Mauro. I love the slight blush on the lip.

Kim, besides the beauty of the flower, there's an additional good trait, the plant has a compact growth habit! And, of course, an incredible scent!

Really nice, I had to look closely for the blush Kim mentioned.

Thanks for the info, Mauro! My C. Heathii has 2 buds forming plus a sheath with buds inside on another growth. I bought this large division at the Miramar OS last October with one flower on it. Here is the picture. It was getting a bit faded. I only paid $26 for it which I think was a great price for such a big plant. It must have been huge before it was divided! My flower is light pink with a yellow center. It looks a lot like my walkeriana (second pic) and my loddigesii (third pic). I have the whole family... mom, dad, and baby! The last pic is how it looks today with it's new buds.

Thanks Pheli! But, after talking to Mauro, I now know that is not a C Heathii. Not sure what it is, but it is pretty. So it will get relabled NoID. One of the risks of buying things at auction!

Like I told Mauro, as I posted the pictures, I had a funny feeling about this plant. I was wondering how these 2 parents made my "Heathii". I know now that they didn't! Which is good to know.

Thanks Mauro, for explaining it to me. Please post it here for others to read. It is very interesting.
