I too bought a purpurata at SBOE. I go to their sale twice a year and get my fix from their $7 tables. Might take awhile to bloom them but that's the part I like. I am awaiting the arrival of a spike which appears to be shyly peeking out. Where do you live peewee? I have a ton of tenebrosa's x others in my collection. I like them.

I hope I see it bloom before retirement age. but looks healthy!
congrats for those. They look tall and plump... Probably it is cheaper to fly to Brazil and see them in the natural habitat than buy them from SBOE!
Beautiful plants you received from SBOE. And I find their prices to be pretty reasonable. If you want to look at a vendor that has some highly priced orchids, try perusing the website for Orchids Limited (Buy Orchids and Orchid Supplies). The prices for many of their cattleya species (just to use one category to illustrate my point) are enough to make me start sweating with anxiety at the thought of pulling out a credit card and making a purchase. That's not to say they don't have quality plants, but their prices aren't for the faint of heart. SBOE, by comparison, is for bargain shoppers.

I plan on tackling my wishlist from Orchids Limited as soon as I've made significant inroads into my SBOE wishlist.

You are right, their Cattleyas are to die for.

Hi there. I live in Miami, the land of heat and humidity.
