I will consider the S/H for my AB .. I hope I can remember to wait until the spring to transplant/repot.
My AB is in bark, but I can barely see it because of the roots. It is difficult to determine when to water (I don't know if they need the same water schedule as a Phalaenopsis - once a week).

You can let your AB dry out .. the pseudobulbs act as water reservoirs and provide the plant with moisture. I follow my phal watering schedule with my AB. The pseudobulbs should be firm to the touch. Mushy pseudobulbs mean too much watering and will eventually rot. I also like to mist my AB in the morning and/or early afternoon as it gets western sun exposure.
