Encyclia cordigera & Epidendrum ammophilum - Two album varieties
Here are two orchids in which the purple pigment is lacking. Encyclia cordigera type is well known as is the alba variety, I believe.
The other photos show a rupicolous Epidendrum species that grows in the wild in sunny places in the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Its cane-like stem can be tall, as high as 1.5 m, although in cultivation I have always seen it shorter than this, about 80 cm tall. The last photo shows the type species for comparison.
Gorgeous, I've loved the Encyclia cordigera when I've seen it before and I think that is still my favourite of the two (even though both are wonderful) because of the higher position of the petals/sepals.
