Default C. violacea

This plant is blooming for the first time. It has four flowers on one inflorescence. I obtained this plant from H&R Nurseries last year. It is a cross of C. violacea (tipo flamea) 'Aki' and C. violacea (tipo flamea) 'Miriam Rosa'. The flowers are flat. The flowers have some imperfections (petals have some wrinkling at the top edge and the lips reflex back) but are still very attractive. The plant is growing in a 4-inch clay pot with New Zealand sphagnum moss as the media.

Beautiful blooms! Does it actually dry out between waterings since it's growing in such a water-retentive medium? Any fragrance to the blooms?

I'd like to know Steve's question as well, as I haven't heard of many Catts being grown in sphag. Yours seems very happy.

Hi Steve. I water every 3-4 days so the Sphagnum does not completely dry out. This and other plants that I got from H&R Nurseries seem to do well in this media. It is different than how catwalker808 grows his walkerianas and violaceas (either in coarse bark or diatomite). For some reason, I cannot grow my plants as well as he does in the media he uses. His plants are very robust with outstanding root systems. I think he uses some kind of magic water. Regarding your second question, the flower does not have any fragrance.

I'm a little confused. Catwalker808 is H&R Nurseries .
