Default brassavola nodosa 'little stars'

hey guys,

I purchases a brass. nodosa 'little stars' a couple of months ago from Lowes. I repotted it and placed it in a south facing window, it is growing good and getting new roots, (I water it about every 3 days and some of the growths are turning red) however some of the newest growths are getting what appears to be a second growth coming out them, is this a spike or what? It is taking its time, whatever it is...lol

If it is coming out of where the leaf is attached to the pseudobulb that would be a spike.
