I agree with you Pat. There are several closely-related Encyclias, and even a white form of tampensis, but I can't find reference to a maroon form. This is the standard tampensis....

oh well add it to my noid collection i was told it was a tampensis, what ever it is i counted 60 buds on it tonight so i am definetly not disapointed. thanks for setting me straight on it

My best guess is Encyclia hanburyi, or a hybrid of it. The main difference I see is the sepal and petal striation lacking, and the side lobes of the labellum are brown. I think I have a variation of Enc. hanburyi that it close to what yours looks like. It is in spike now, and will bloom in a few weeks.
